For TV he is cool. In a real pro kitchen he would last about 5 minutes. He would have zero staff.

The chefs main job is to teach. You do not teach by humiliating your staff.

BUT I would go nuts in Nightmare Kitchens.

I think he is cool, but a little extreme. I wonder if some of his mean-ness is put on for the cameras. I have seen him be very kind and supportive, but oooh that temper!! I can understand getting frustrated when your staff is slow and stupid, making so many mistakes because the main job of the chef (at least at the cafe my hubby and I run) is to cook and make sure all the food goes out properly cooked, on time and seasoned correctly. (Teaching is for teachers in culinary school, by the time you graduate a chef should be able to do his job in the kitchen without the HS holding his or her hand) Anyway that is just the opinion of this chef.
