How do you season fish? How do you season steak?!
Answers: I was just curious since I tned to eat my meat and fish with only butter. I wanted to try some different tastes.
Fish is always good with some type of citrus, usually lemon. You can squeeze fresh lemon juice on the fillets, sprinkle with salt and pepper and a little parmesan and broil or bake. Steak is good with just salt, pepper if it's a more expensive cut, like a rib eye. If it's a tougher cut, try marinating in olive oil, some type of acid (wine, vinegar), salt, pepper, garlic and I like to add rosemary because it goes well with steak.
fish use lemon also for a sauce get some tarter sauce !
Steak u could use your butter and mix it with some mushrooms with a little salt and pepper to taste
keep it simple - salt and pepper. Lemon juice or tartar AFTER it's cooked by the method of your liking.
Seasoning tastes vary from person to person...
add lemon to the butter on fish and garlic added to butter placed on steak is common. Steaks may be seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder and fresh ground pepper. Seafood may be seasoned with onion, lemon and butter. These are safe starter suggestions, once you get into cooking more, you will experiment on your own.
You can use all kinds of herbs and spices for both. It's the application that's important. Best way for me is to rub it into the meat with your hands. Work it into the meat real well and let it sit at ROOM TEMPERATURE for an hour. BBQ on high leaving the lid open one inch. Wait 4 minutes for beef and flip. With fish its up to how you like it. Only flip it once. Now wait till the meat is cooked to your liking. Medium rare will only take another 4 to 6 minutes depending on the thickness.
