Anyone ever make your own chili from scratch?!

Question: And perhaps make it spicy hot with extra beans in it with raw onions added on top after it is done cooking? Whew.

Let's just say I am happy I am living alone today. Even the dogs want to stay outside.

I`ve had chilli thats made me scratch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is an easy way to keep from running off the dogs and people. If you cook your own beans (from dried), soak them first for at least 8 hours, and change the water. That takes some of the gas out. After that, cook them with some Kombu in them. Kombu is a type of seaweed, and you can get it at any good health food store. It contains an enzyme that helps you break down the protein in the beans that causes gas. Also, it is good for you, and won't affect the flavor of your chili. You can also cook them with beano, but the seaweed is natural and very good for you. Just FYI...
My friend used to make great vegan chilli. Good stuff!
My brother makes a mean chilly, but I won't eat it.
I don't know if this is what you mean by chilli from scratch, but this is how I make my homemade chilli:

Brown ground beef and drain the fat.

Add can of diced tomatoes.
Add a package of chilli seasoning.
Add the ground beef.
Add beans (whatever I'm in the mood for, sometimes kidney beans, sometimes white beans, sometimes pinto beans, sometimes port n beans or a combo of the previous beans.)

Add water, bring to a boil, let simmer.

Beans have fiber and protein, very good food for the body.

but I understand...

Why do they have to be so mean to the tummy...

Can ya' open a window please ....

Whew.

Thanks!

;)
Oh yeah... It has been passed down from Grandma and it is great.
I always add the raw onions and extra beans... not so hot though I am not a fan of spicy.
Of course. Canned chili doesn't compare to homemade chili. Next time soak your beans overnight with a little baking soda in the water or boil them for 2 minutes, let them sit for an hour, drain and replace the water and proceed to cook your beans. Then the dogs can stay inside if they need to. It'll help rid the beans of some of their 'gassy' properties.
An easy way to make a tasty chili is in a slow cooker. Take 1 pound of browned hamburger meat, 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped green pepper, 2 small cans of kidney beans, and misc. spices of your liking. Mix all into a slow cooker (crock pot) and let cook for 6-8hours. Enjoy.
I'm not able to make it too spicy. I would have others complaining. I wait until my friend makes spicy chili and go to her house. Otherwise, I'm quite safe with mine. lol
