Single People!?!

Question: How much do you budget for food monthly? Just for you - not other adults or children or pets. Thanks!

When I was single about 3-4 years ago, my just food costs were about $125 a month. With a husband now it's more than doubled because he has to have meat!

About $200 a month sometimes more sometimes less.

I spend about 190 to 225 a month on groceries. But this includes the basic stuff like soap and t.p. If it's purely food groceries, probably about 175 to 180 is what I budget and typically spend.

I shop every day because if I buy a week's food, I'll eat it in two days. So I don't really budget out ahead but mostly go to the store and stay under 10 bucks each day. I can do that readily most of the time and often that 10 bucks includes things that aren't food. A bottle of vitamins, t paper, soap etc. I would probably guess that the food part is about 180/month.

I had a friend that got by on 2 dollars a day. He could eat anything, dented cans from the dollar store, sardines from Peru, yuk. He was in pretty good shape though.

We had a neighbor back in NH who got by on less than that. My mother said she was once complaining because her grocery cost was up around five bucks a week. She would buy a box of the large shredded wheat biscuits and break them into thirds. Each one was her breakfast. So for a few bucks she got a month's breakfasts ( is that the right plural for breakfast? doesn't sound right)

She was one of the skinniest people I ever met. But she was active, did great paintings and things like that and lived into her 90's. We used to say when she needed an xray the doctor would just get his nurse to hold a flashlight behind her.

Around $300 a month. Maybe a little less. Usually about $10 a day on average. Some times I have to go on "big" shopping trips and other times I do not go at all.

I would say I do a $10 trip every other day=$150 and then I spend another $150 or a little less on my "big" shopping days.

I am in San Diego which is not cheap! I buy only high quality foods FRESH foods which is also not cheap!

Sardines from Peru, shreded wheate, dented cans are all not for me. lol!

You are not including beer, wine and liquor are you!? lol!

I consume about 5000 pounds of flax a month. Real rough estimate. Golden beautiful flax seed. One day, in a perfect society, our entire currency will be measured in flax.

About 200 250

$250 and add more when I make dinner for the boyfriend.
