Is it really a big no no to refreeze meat?!

Question: If the meat has thawed in a refrigerator, then it’s okay to refreeze. In terms of other methods, make sure it doesn’t sit in the “danger zone”—40°F–140°F (4°C–60°C)—for more than two hours. And if it’s been thawed by other methods, cook it before refreezing. This is the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service’s position. If you do refreeze, the sooner you do it, the better. no do it aall the tme.

No. I thawed out a pound of hamburger last week and only used a half pound. I put the other half pound back in. I've done this before and never had a problem.

I've always wondered about that!
I do this all the time, except w/chicken. Never had a problem, except bad freezer burn.

My dad is a chef & he told me you can get sick so I NEVER do it.

I do it only if it still is slightly frozen. I wouldn't leave it on the counter however. Only if it was still very very cold.
