Answers: Pommes chateau, they're called in French. What's the connection ?

Chateau de la Muette was a palace Louis XVl and Marie-Antoinette lived in. Louis granted a piece of the land to Antoine Augustin Parmentier to grow potatoes. Before that time, potatoes were only grown in Ireland and many people thought potatoes caused disease. Parmentier was successful in the potato growing and also developed publicity for the potato with cooking methods. Pommes Chateau was one recipe credited to this period.

Do you think its the same as Dutchess Potatoes? Where the mashed potato is put through one of those things you use for icing? It comes out looking like a chateau, or a castle.
