Is it me or are a lot of americans ignorant about what they eat?!
The foods are totally high in partially hydrogenated oils and high fat and high fructose corn syrup, it's not real food,it's just food that's made to taste the way you want it.
Do you know that is the reason why really great restaurants have great food and they are a little expensive because you are paying to eat healthy and well prepared foods from scratch..have people ever wondered about that?
Answers: Most americans enjoy eating at fast food restaurants and chain restaurants. what's up with that? do you know what you are really eating when the price is low and the fat is high?

After eating at fast-food restaurants and not paying attention to what i was buying in grocery stores, I was diagnosed by my doctor with high bad cholesterol and low good cholesterol. I am not interested in having a heart attack!
My husband (who is the cook at our house) immediately put me on a special diet. People are extremely ignorant as to what they're eating and there are some foods that do not have cholesterol in them, but your body converts them. Baaaad.
However, i do not think it is only Americans with this problem.
i can find no Italian or Mexican foods that are on my diet.
There are over 1,400 McDonald's in Canada alone and they have more than 31,000 restaurants in over 119 countries worldwide. Not to pick on McDonald's, Burger King had 11,435 locations worldwide in 2002.
So, it seems to be a worldwide problem.
The definition of ignorant is "uneducated in general; lacking knowledge" according to Webster
Why are you stereotyping just Americans? There are plenty of ignorant non-Americans. Just because someone chooses to eat unhealthy fattening food, doesn't make them ignorant. People make their own choices, let them eat what they want. If they get fat then it's their own fault.
Well, I don't eat fast food except when I'm using it as fast food (which is maybe 2 times a year.) So that part I agree with you about. And I eat a healthy diet for the most part. I do this so when I want to eat something decadent I can.
What I will never do, because life is hard enough, is to look at food as a chemistry set. I look at food as food. If one day I feel like bacon, I eat it. Screw the content of it. I'll have creme brule about 2 or 3 times a year. Not 2% creme brule, or skim creme brule, but CREME brule. I like to reach a happy medium.
Yes because we don't take time to eat good, because it there, time
it's easy and we are fat lazy americans
I think a lot of HUMAN BEINGS are confused about what they eat.....let's look at the entire world here...it's soooo much bigger than the little part of ignorance that you claim.
I'd like to agree that it's not just Americans, (and I'm sure it's not), but let's face it - America has the largest (no pun intended) problem with obesity and its health-related issues. And I do truly believe that fast food, along with frozen prepared foods, has a lot to do with it. These things are loaded with saturated fats, sodium, preservatives and such, and yet, who is always jumping on the next diet-bandwagon? Americans. And who can't figure out why they keep getting fatter? Americans. It's obviously a sore spot with me - I have people tell me all the time that they don't have time to cook. I just don't believe it...I can broil fish and veggies, and serve it with a salad, and have it all done, start to finish, in under 30 minutes. Heck, it takes longer than that to have a pizza delivered.
Most Americans are ignorant about what they eat. They are disconnected from the farm and have no idea nor care where or how their food was raised.
You are worried about trans fats and HFCS but are you just as worried about all the GMO's that go into the American diet (and all trans fats and HFCS are made with GMO grains)?
It is well worth the cost to find organically grown/GMO free whole foods and learn how to cook from scratch.
