What is the difference between a taquito and a flauta?!

Question: I thought the difference was a taquito is a corn tortilla and a flauta is a flour tortilla. People at work are telling me a taquito is always filled with breakfast stuff... Like Whataburger breakfast taquitos....

Taquitos are made with corn tortillas, usually tightly rolled up with the ends left open, and more of a finger food.

Flautas are made with flour tortillas, usually loosely folded, but all ends are closed up in the tortilla. The ones I've had are usually deep fried (but not too long) and always served with some sort of sauce on top. (similar to an enchilada)

I believe the difference is corn (taquito) versus flour (flauta) tortilla.

I don't know about the breakfast stuff.
The taquitos I've seen have always been rolled with shredded meat.

I agree with Dave. This is how I've always had them as well...

Taquitos are crispy and made with corn tortillas and flautas are like mini burritos made with flour tortillas.

Taquitos are generally made with corn tortillas and flautas are generally made with flour tortillas.

Also, tequitos are oftentimes wrapped tighter than flautas; thus making them smaller. Their shape is small and round. Flautas are thicker and are more flat than round.

I hope that helps! :-)
