How can I open this jar?!

Question: The lid on my new jar of jalapeno slices is 3 and 3/8". I have kind of small hands for a guy. I tapped the edges of the lid with a knife, I ran some hot water on it, I ran some cold water on it. I don't want to break the jar, so , how can I get the dang lid off?

Get the point of a spoon under the lip of the lid, with the hollow part up and using it as a sort of lever press down on the handle until you hear the air get into the jar. Then just open as normal, it won't require a lot of power.

Get a jar opener and TWIST! Or... go to your neighbors house?

If you have a hand-crank can opener, then you could use the plastic coated handles as a grip and squeeze the handles to turn the lid.

Another option, if you have it...use a big piece of leather or vinyl (naugahyde) to give you a better grip on the lid.

Take a butter knife and stab a hole on the top of the jar. It will release the air and make it easy to open.

Get one of those jar openers.

Hammer. But seriously you can use that cabinet liner stuff that is kind of rubbery to open it or just tap the side of the lid all the way around.

Take a knife (dull one) and (pry) lift up lid. This will release the seal. Hope it helps!

Wrap the jar with a cloth, leaving the edge of the metal lid exposed.
Holding the jar at 45 degrees to the horizontal, strike the side of the lid against a hard surface. For example, do this n the floor, at intervals all around its circumference. If this is not feasible, try using the back of a table knife to strike the corner of the metal lid.
Find something to grip the jar with. Use a damp cloth or wear some rubber gloves when trying to open it.
Place your palm on the top of the lid and apply pressure, then twist it round with your whole hand.
Keep a firm grip on the jar. This is because you don't want the insides all over the table/floor.

GIve it to your wife or mother to open hon.... I guarantee it will pop open for her....Sigh....Men are SO helpless....

try turning the lid..... what you got girl hands?

ok get an oilfilter remover and it will take off a residue tight lid.

Im left handed and have huge grip but cant open some cans then I use my weaker right and pop its open

Hold the jar in your left hand and pop the bottom of it with your right hand , this breaks the seal enough to allow it to open easily. Even a 67lb 90 year old can do it.

try rele hard

i have a lot of problems with jars...lol

take a butter knife and slip it under the edge of the lid...pry up a bit and break the seal. that's what i do.

A large hammer.

pray my child and ye shall receive... oh this isn't the religion section.

eh, try rubber bands around the lid

The next step I would do it heat the lid on the stove top turning slowly and with a dry towel open. If that does work use a knife...gentle slit the top of the lid careful not to cut yourself....this will ruin the lid so put plastic under it if you don't use all the peppers.

Try putting the sharp end of a knife between the edge of the lid and the jar on the side and pull the knife outward to let the air enter if the jar is vacuumed and then it will be so easy to open the jar.

Bring the jar back to the store and get your money back. You don't want Jalapeno slices anyway. They give you gas. LOL
