Is it ok to eat porkchops if they are a little pink in the middle?!
Answers: My husband made pork chops (fried, country style) for dinner and they were a tad pink in the middle. We ate half of our pork chops before we noticed. He put them back on the stove and cooked them until they were no longer pink but can we get sick from the pink portion that we did eat??
No, you won't get sick.
A tad pink is no reason to toss them back on the stove. As a matter of fact, the pork chops were probably pretty dry after the second cooking.
Most people terrified of undercooked pork tend to be around my grandparents age, for good reason. Pigs used to be fed table scraps and whatever else was laying around. This contributed to widespread trichinosis, a worm found only in pork fed bacteria/worm egg laden slop.
All pork found in the grocery store is raised on specific feed, not slop. Trichinosis is all but eradicated now, so you can eat your pork mid-well or even medium. I don't dig the texture of mid-rare to rare pork though.
If you happen upon pork chops or bacon from a farmer who still slops his pigs, then burn the heck out of them.
Yes, it was more of a problem who pigs' diets were rich in bacteria. They eat beter now and there is less chance for food poisoning.
no way.. pork should be thoroughly cooked no pink bits!! loads of apple sauce yum yum(your makin me hungry now)
No, pork is actually supposed to be served med-well. The old myths about getting really sick from undercooked pork have been found to be untrue.
feel bttr lol
No, you couldn't sick from the pink portion that you ate, if it wasn't really pink. But, if you hardly cooked the porkchops at all and they were really pink, then you could get sick from eating the pink portion of the pork chops.
Hope This Helps!
You're probably safe since you only ate a small portion of it. But pork is one of those meats that is definitely safer to cook all the way through.
no you shouldnt eat it if its pink.
pork and chicken should always be cooked done.
it can make u sick.
it has to be 170 degrees internal heat to kill any bacteria.
my dad works at a grocery store and has been around meat a lot.
he said if u had cooked it prior to eating it at 170 degrees farenheit then you should be fine.
have a blessed night!
Probably not, because trichonosis in not so common in the US anymore. That said, pork and chicken should never be eaten unless they are fully cooked and juices are no longer running pink.
Pork should be thoroughly cooked to prevent possible worm infestation in your body. I do not think you will get sick from this one time eating.....but do not do so anymore.
yeah, you could get really sick from eating under cooked pork, and even from pork that is cooked well. read on:
1. Consumption of pork causes several diseases
Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.
Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.
2. Pork has fat building material
Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.
3. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth
The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages where they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.
Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.
4. Pig is the most shameless animal
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. .
It's OK!...:)
Could you get sick the answer is yes, but will you get sick the chances are very slim
The big worry with pork is Trichinosis. There are very few cases reported in the US. (12 in 1986 as close as I could get)
I would be more worried about eating spinach with all the e coli that has been associate with it in recent years.
it is ok to eat it if it's a little pink. Med-well not rare. It's fine because now they have better ways of producing pork so it doesn't have worms in it.
Yes you can get sick from eating undercooked pork. But I am sure you will be okay, by eating such a lil bit. You can get sick from undercooked pork and chicken, beef and fish are suppose to be okay undercooked, but, have you followed all the beef recalls and the tainted fish our grocery stores carry from china. To ensure you eat safe meat, it is best to know your meat source, where your dinner actually came from. Do your research on meat, poultry, ect you made be saddly surprised where our food comes from. Have you seen the movie Fast Food Nation? Rent it.
It won't hurt you if it doesn't occur very often. I'm sure all of us have eaten something that wasn't thoroughly cooked and lived to talk about it and not gotten sick. You'll be OK!
Slight pink ok Just reach 150F deg
You should always cook meat thoroughly so you don't get salmonella poisoning. You could have gotten sick. If tomorrow morning you're okay you probably didn't get poisoned
