Does curry get hotter the longer you leave it?!

Question: I ask this because I cooked a curry (an authentic recipe chicken biryani) at work on thursday night and bought the leftovers home cos it was so yum!

I have eaten in twice and each time it seemed to get hotter!
Is this possible or is it my imagination?

It does get a smidgeon hotter, but the longer you leave the curry the flavoursome they get due to the marinading.

You get my star for cooking fresh. Good for you keep up the good work and have fun in your kitchen.....xxx

Brilliant, and thank you for the rating.

Stick with your curries I PROMISE they will get much better and there a doddle when you get to using fresh spices too. Good for you. Don't forget..... one for the chef.......xxx Report It

  • Did you leave it on a radiator by any chance?

    YES!!

    not sure, but i wouldn't eat a curry 2 days after its' been cooked! one night maybe and i would say yes!

    I think the flavours are absorbed more in the food and the food gets more spicy

    It matures overnight! I always cook curries and chillis the night before I eat them - 'cos they taste better.

    it gets hotter because curry seeps into meat the longer you leave curry the better and hotter it gets

    Like many foods with many ingredients it improves by standing.
    I find it becomes more tasty with less 'pepper' effect.

    If you don't know don't eat;
    try some italian , spanish , portuguese food they are the best.
    Don't lose time with indian food.
