How do I become a 'gourmet'?!
Answers: Here's my definition. It's not just eating and cooking. You have to understand the hows and whys of food. The history, the trends. It goes beyond foodie to total understanding. It's a lot of reading, tasting, and thinking and questioning. Say, like buying caviar doesn't make you a gourmet/gourmand. You have to know what type of fish it came from, where it came from, proper ways to eat it, how to enjoy it and savor it, and being creative thinking about what else you could use it for besides a cracker. I'd say it's mostly about creativity and knowledge.
I do believe you mean
gourmand \goor-MAHND; GOOR-mahnd; GOOR-mund\, noun:
A lover of good food.
Start going to all the fancy restaurants and eating the highly overpriced, small portion, fancy, frou-frou dishes.
You can also watch The Iron Chef and other such programs on cable TV and cook/eat like they do. I'm sure you can get cookbooks or take classes on gourmet cooking.
I don't think a person can be gourmet... it's the food haha
You are what you eat...the best food and wines, appreciation for the excellent preparation. You don't get a grade as gourmet, eat and drink well, life is short.
