When will the USDA start allowing cloned meat to be sold? Is it now? or next year?!
Answers: I think it is now, but there will likely not be any cloned meat on the market. What will be is the normally breed offspring of cloned animals, but that is still likely a few years out before any significant amount is on the market.
Hopefully never!!! The FDA has not been very good at keeping a check on our food supply and what's in it. All too often there are recalls, many of which I'm sure are due to the lack of enforcing safety guidelines. With that in mind, remember the mad cow scare. What if that were to arise again? Could and would the FDA check every single cow being slaughtered? So if they are going to allow cloned meat to be sold and consumed, how are we to trust this to be safe? How would you be sure that it has "trickled" down the line? It's always best and much safer to buy organic foods whenever possible to avoid diseases, pesticides, chemicals, preservatives, additives, hormones and antibiotics.
