I imagine it is cost effective to make square boxes rather than round ones.

LOL i don't know but I think they should put a round pizza in a round box!. Or they can make the Pizza square!. LOL!!!!

Yep, its all about structure. Other than that... its probably about getting people to think.

try folding a round box

why is the sky blue? what is the meaning of life?

Haha thats an interesting question... probably because square boxes are more easy to mass produce....

pull out some scissors and tell me which is harder to cut, a square or a circle.

Yeah; Thinking about it the edges do add stability to the box . Joy has a point about that. But making the, boxes that are circular would waste less space and material. You could build the precise box for the pizza. Nice idea!
The box would cost less, and increase profit or you could just sell the pizza for less. In a competitive economy, a very nice idea, indeed.

cause it was found to save money making round pizzas, the
excess dough from the corners added up to more pizzas as the
night progressed....square boxes were readily available, and this saved extra expense of having round boxes custom made.
also it was easier to put a round pizza in a square box, than vice versa...
of course, i could just be full of @#$%.....

A square box is much easier to make --- ship --- handle -- stack -- and keep straight than a round one !!
Let alone the fact that when you try to extract that first piece out of a round box -- where do your fingers go ?

Good question - which makes one wonder why so few pizzas are Square.
Larry, right above me, makes a great point.

could you imagine it in a round one and you couldn't pick it up duh!

Domino's makes an octagon box to save on material costs. I guess it makes a big difference with the large quantity of boxes they make! See picture in link below:

That's a good one!

Because containers with round corners are probably more difficult to store and stack and manufacture

Because it does.
Get over it.
