Why would you buy a cake?!

Question: you.

Answers: you.

Um...because you have a craving for it? Because you don't have time or the ability to make one for yourself? Because you don't have a kitchen? Because the cake you want is bigger than you could possibly make, ie. a huge sheet cake from costco that would be for a party? Because there is a certain kind of cake your child wants for their birthday and it's not one that you make? Because it's a bakesale and you are supporting some worthy cause? Because you want to throw it at someone, but don't want to waste the energy of making it, for them?

I'm out....you go.

Because you don't have time to make a cake.

homemade taste better than store bought. I would only buy a cake that would be too involved to make at home.

b/c as disappointing as it is, baking a cake is not easy and it's time consuming. there are people (like my aunt) that no matter how hard they try, just never get it quite right. it's easy to overmix the dry, underwhip the wet or cook it too long or not long enough. it could be humid or your water could be funky....too many things can ruin your hard work. it happens. baking is a science.

I buy them when people at work have birthdays or when I want one decorated in a special way.

Because it's someones BIRTHDAY!! or special occasion!

I usually don't.Either it is a cake mix or homemade. But rarely buy a premade decorated cake.Cheaper to make your own.
