when buying your jars be sure to also purchase a canning and freezing book. the ball blue book has excellent recipes and guidelines for canning and freezing. you will probably also find your answer for green apples.

Most grocery stores and hardware stores carry them.
Most of the supermarkets will sell them.
I just use the jars I buy other foods in.
Wash in hot water and dry in the oven to sterilise.
