Oven chips??!
Answers: after i went shoppin last night i forgot to put a bag of oven chips in the freezer i have just discovered them this mornin they are obviously defrosted can i refreeze them or do they have to be thrown awy
try this web page. Hope it helps.
I wouldnt refreeze them!
You can refreeze them, there is nothing in them to cause you salmonella
It's so annoying that but, I would probably bin them - getting a bad tummy isn't worth a couple of quid.
You are much better to throw them away just to be safe.
put them in oven and `nearly ` cook them then refreeze,
they will cook ok.
if you just refreeze they won`t be very `firm`
hope this helps
Feel the bag and if it's still real cold cook them, but I wouldn't refreeze them!
freezing and then defrosting isn't a good idea.. called food poisoning
if you refreeze them (like i have done in the past) you will have to smash them apart when you want to eat them, and they are not as good. better off to buy a loaf of bread, cook the lot, and invite every one around for lunch.
I would cook them once defrosted but would not refreeze them
Be safe chuck them RIGHT OUT.
should say on package may be stamped like spoil date etc.... but will just say (do not refreeze) just read carefully cause they tend to print it small!?!?!?!?
Even if you don't freeze them, they will keep a few days in a cold fridge - just plan meals around them. You could roast them in the same way par-boiled potatoes in a little fat in a baking tin, as wedges with added herbs and seasoning dry baked, deep-fried as conventional chips, cover with cheese and grill for "cheesy chips", use as a topping for a casserole as you would cottage pie, cook and turn into a potato salad.
Ask yourself how we (him and me) got to our 70's without "use by" dates?
If it looks alright, it smells alright and it tastes alright - it's alright!
is it worth the risk for a £2 bag of chips?
I would throw them away. Just to be on the safe side. It's not worth the risk of food poisoning.
I have to agree with the other posters who have said throw them away - it definitely isnt worth having a bad tum for a couple of quid! I would throw them.
oh go on. cook them and eat them. you know you want to
They don't need to be thrown away as they're just potatoes.
However, they do taste better when they are defrosted before cooking, I find.
