Boredom - I think that's why croutons were invented for salads.

Also, Cobb Salads are good because of the variety in it - Blue cheese, chopped tomatoes, chicken, bacon, avocado and sliced eggs.

How's about a spice grinder with multi coloured peppercorns, sea salt, dried chilli and any other herb or spice you like....

Why not try:- prawns, cheese, chinese chicken, seasonings!

How about
1.fresh spinach leaves with chopped red apples, walnut pieces with a balsamic vinagarette.
2. spinach leaves or leafy green lettuce with mandarine orange slices, chopped celery, red onions and an Italian dressing.
3. Bib lettuce with avacado, bacon bits, hard boiled eggs and ranch dressing.

Well, I cannot do any better than your other respondents! When I make a salad (which is quite often) I throw in lots of things. I look in the cupboards and the fridge etc and just throw together something extravagant. You can't really go wrong. I do the same with vegetarian food. Restaurant vegetarian food is very limited, so you can make up your own at home, and eat all the veggie stuff you like. I am the same with soups - things that people may think are quite 'unmixable' are actually really delicious. I may write my own cookbook, but too many people are already doing that!

mandarin oranges and dried cranberries.
delic.

Make your salad fun to look at and eat. Use a variety of greens such as red cabbage, raddichio, curly leafs etc. Cut them into strips along with strips of carrots and whatever veggies you like. Then you can add tortilla strips, crunchy chinese noodles, or sunflower seeds. For protein you can use smoked salmon, grilled chicken or chopped bacon. So many possible variations.
