I'm about to open a hot dog cart in San Diego, Ca what is the best hot dog brand?!

Question: let me know what you think. I would like to try Vienna Beef and perhaps Oscar Meyers. I'm not sure what do you think, maybe Nathan's. Your suggestion has to be affordable and available at the market like costco, smart and final and other type of warehouse's. Please help.

I totally agree - Hebrew National; though I knew someone who started a hot dog stand in the Financial District in SF and they're making a killing. They use different brands for different types of dogs. Be conscious that not a lot of people eat pork, myself included. Make sure you have a kosher dog, like Hebrew National. Ever wonder how Costco was able to make a profit when they used to sell Hebrew National dogs for $1 with a soda? (^_~)

yes you have to becareful and not mix two different hot dogs on thr burners because for the kosher people will not eat anything thats been put on burner thats not kosher...and national hebrew is kosher..i would just stick with the one brand... Report It

  • I don't think that's the best approach. Its important to get a variety of styles but also from at least 2 different suppliers- in case one falls out for some reason you can still do the day's business. I recommend trying for three- One for veggie dogs, one for run of the mill Oscar Meyer ones, and another for speciality like chorizo, kransky, bratwurst or whatever. Best of luck to you.

Hebrew National, whether you're Jewish or not, are good hotdogs. You can probably buy them wholesale in quantity.

Nathan's are great too. That's a name that I would trust.

    Hebrew National for sure! Delicious

Millers 1/4 lb and 1/2 lb dogs are awesome! But, my favorite Dog is Caspers You can't use their name because of their restaurant chain but, their dogs are top notch natural casing dogs. We use Millers 1/4 lb dogs at the hospital I work at and they have a great flavor. I love the bits of black pepper in them they are not spicy but very well seasoned. To make your cart stand out from the rest try to find a butcher that makes sausage and find out if they will make a custom blend exclusive to you. You can try Taylors Sausage in Southern Oregon, they have sausage that can't be beat and they make it all fresh and ship daily. They may even have a customer or distributor to hook you up with. All you have to do is ask them.their link is below. Even though Taylor is a little pricey you can't go wrong with their product!

For those so hung on to Hebrew National. They are really expensive, They don't taste any different from 68 cent turkey dogs. But the brats I love are Johnsonville. They are soooooo gooooood. And Hillshire farm.....Go Beef Go Meat

kahn's all beef, they steam really well. and has a great flavor.good luck

    Hebrew National
