What is it called when people inject a flavor into foods?!

Question: I remember my health teacher talking about how sometimes people inject flavors into things to make it taste different...for example, a strawberry, they inject orange flavor into a strawberry and make it the strawberry tast like an orange. What is that called? And...what companies/factories do this?

thanks so much

I use it and call it marinating. I inject marinade into thick pieces of meat and place that meat into a container *plastic zip lock bag* with more marinade so that the outside and inside of my meat gets flavored well.

I don't know about injecting fruits. That would cause bruising and early spoilage. However, I've been eating grapples (pronounced grape-el). It's a Fuji apple that has been soaked in concentrated grape flavor and pure water..delicious!

The Butterball turkey got it's name from the process of inject butter into the breast meat of their whole turkeys.

seasoning.

Frankenstein food !

The only thing I can think of is basting. Sorry if that's not what you are looking for.

I'm not positive, but I believe it's called "infuse".
