Question: It was over a year old! eww! But it looked and smelled and tasted fine. I had it in some tuna.

I can't imagine it's going to kill you. That stuff is probably so full of preservatives and chemicals that it doesn't go off anyway.

The worst I would guess that you get sick and have to get rid of it. But if it tasted fine and you don't feel sick, your body will process it.

if color, odor, smell changes so may expect something wrong but at least if there is nothing between 4-72 hours like gastro intestinal disturbance so you are ok
