Remember 1950's & 1960's foods?!

Question: I think avocados were new to this country then because my Mom and all her friends were trying to grow them by suspending the pits in jars with toothpicks!
I also remember Sloppy Joes and City Chicken, Anything else?

HI WENDYCAT,

Boiling baggies-steak with gravy, chicken with gravy=threw them into pot of boiling water then slit & put on Taystee white bread, Jiffy popcorn, that lard with the red dot you swished to make oleo spread, pot pies, tv dinners, jello=made with fruit, jello molds, pudding-chocolate especially, the milkman leaving milk, eggs, oleo in those alumin covered boxes by the back door, macroni & cheese homemade, cheese wrapped hot dogs in dough, slopping joes, cassaroles galore-tuna, hamburg, chicken. Kool-aid, tang, Fizzes=drop round disk in water instant drink, pop rarely though. Have a good AM. :0)
Additional Details:Bonomo's Turkish taffy=banana, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla soft or frozen & smacked on the counter. Sin-Sins, Boston Baked beans, pinwheels. Walnetos, cinnamon tooth picks, lick-a-maid, A & W drive up's (in the car), Drive In movies. Thanks for the memories. Yes all our parents tried making avocado's.

HI WENDYCAT,

Thanks for the rating, our milkman came by truck. I don't remember 1951 I was a newborn then. Have a good day. :0) Report It

huh? isn't that how you're supposed to grow avocados? first putting them in the jars until they get roots, and then plant them?

ice cream, jello molds, casseroles, TV dinners just came out, etc. Fondue was very popular in the 70's.
