Yes, it's tomatoes, along with vinegar and spices and a cooking process.

You can't necessarily tell the origin of a food by its taste. For example, did you ever eat rhubarb pie? Yum, yum! But have you ever tasted rhubarb by itself, either raw or cooked? Yucch!

An what about Twinkies? They taste great, but with a shelf life of 4 to 5 years, who knows what in them? Besides the sugar, of course.

And don't even get me started about Dr. Pepper!

Thank goodness it doesn't taste like tomatoes 'cuz I'm not nuts about tomatoes. But read the ingredients label on the bottle and they will give you exactly what's in it. I buy the low carb kind... Heinz and can't taste any difference. I love a lot of tomato based things... especially homemade Italian sauce, and some salsas.

DELMONTE

tomatoes!

The basic bulk ingredient is tomato ,it looses a lot of the tomato taste in the process of cooking & thickening, besides this the ingrediants that go into it like spices lend their flavour, vinegar acts both as a preservative & and along with sugar imparts a sweet-sour taste to the finished product. The more spice & chillie /cayene used the hotter the ketchup.

Banana.... Some ketchups are made from bananas. Red food coloring was added to make it RED.

I live in the Philippines, People prefer banana ketchup than tomato ketchup.

It tastes better..

They squeeze it out of Mrs. Heinz!
