I sincerely doubt that. Maggots are fly larvae, so to get maggots, the meat must be left to the open air, where flies could land and lay eggs. Soda (of any sort) would have NOTHING to do with whether or not fly eggs would be left there....except maybe the sugar might more readily ATTRACT those flies.

Yes but especially after the meat is exposed for a few hours.

check this out:

http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/porkworm....

it can be
its a worm
some pork products (very rare)
can be contaminated with this worm
normaly cooking it kills it and you are fine no sickness
but if you digest this pork that has the worm in it and it is not propley cooked you can get it in ur belly and it makes you very VERY SICK
it can go in to your blood streem very nasty
so not all pork with coke = maggot only in the rare case that the cut of meat has it in the 1st place
the caffeene from the coke and the sugar brings out the worm/ maggot

hope that answers ur Q :)

No, my father tends to marinate pork ribs/chops, etc. in Pepsi or Coke before cooking them. No maggots.

of course not

Yes. But in a matter of days. And not because of the coke and pork mixing together.

Like what Brutally Honest said, maggots are the babies of flies (larvae for those who are strict about it) that hatch from the eggs that flies lay on the surface of the pork.

The coke attracts the flies and the meat is the "rotting flesh" that maggots need, so flies lay their eggs on the surface of the pork.

Given several hours to days (depends on the species), these eggs hatch and then maggots appear.

In summary. NO. coke and pork do not cause maggots.

they do however contribute to type 2 diabetes and heart disease...haha

it not fly larvae, its pin worms...
thats why they always tell you to cook pork to very high degree, people of the past didnt know this and got worms and diseases from undercooked pork..
(wonder why the muslims dont eat pork.. God knows these things)
