its for anti tooth rotting purposes i think, but you are right about sweeteners also being as bad in their own delightful way!the fruit sugars in smoothies also cause damage to teeth but the manufacturers get around that by advertising the fibre/5 a day benefits of the fruit content. its really a lose- lose situation for teeth either way.
Most "sweeteners" are made of toxic chemicals that are very dangerous for health. Aspartame being among the worst! Steva is the only sweetener as far as I know that is even safer than pure sugar.
Look up the dangers of Aspartame and other sweeteners at: www.dorway.org there are 92 known bad things that can happen to the body by ingesting aspartame!
we used a food processer and made our baby foods when we had time. Squash is an easy one to do this with.
Bake it untill nice and soft (keep it moist) then put it in the processer or grinder and your good.
Sweeteners are bad news, closely followed by the rampant proliferation of corn syrups. Corn syrups and their derivitives are potentially the number one source for the rising tide of obesity in our country (coupled with sedentary lifestyles).
