I went to buy a bottle of Irn Bru it was priced at 1.19 on the bottle and he charged me 1.40 Is that allowed?!

Question: No. By law they must charge no more than the price on the item. If they don't want to sell at, or below the marked price, then they reserve the right to refuse the sale, but can NOT charge OVEr the marked price.
Bit if a sh*t when a lower price label accidently clings to a higher valued item.

no w`ay mate, you can set trading standerds onto him!

No they have to charge at the price advertised. Or they have to take all the stock from the shelve that is label up at that price.

not if iron bru company said it was 1.19 they would have them reduced for traders to buy and sell them at that price i'd contact irn bru and tell them aswell.

...might be 1.40 comes after including tax.

no...if youve got the bottle n your reciept get on the phone to bbc's watchdog.

thatll sort the ripping off bastard out!

Won't be before tax! That's just false advertising if it is. The shopkeeper dude's rippin yer off! Against the law due to the afore mentioned false advertising.

"Daylight robbery", I'd say,if it says £1.19,then that is all you should have given them...There is no Robin Hood anymore, just "Robbing Bastards"!!

Sales tax probably brought it to $1.40, if you mean he charged you $1.40 plus tax then No, it is not allowed.

tip it over his head!!!! I bought a few items in a "local" shop the other day and watched in amazement as he rang everything up once, bagged it, and then went 'um hold on' and then he pulled about 4/5 items out the bag and re scanned them... cheeky sod!! not amused, I made him clear his till, and do it properly, he had tried to charge me £5. over... HUH??

no report the robbing git

I went to buy a cup final ticket with 50 pounds printed on it and was charged 500. Is that allowed.......

you could point out his mistake and say he was wrong he get mad though or you could leave it cuz you spent ove $1 on a bottle of soda whats 31 cents

no, the price that is on the bottle is the price that you should have payed, you were ripped off!
