make it yourself r
INGREDIENTS:

* 1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
* 1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas
* 3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste)
* 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
* 2 cloves garlic, crushed
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 2 tablespoons olive oil

PREPARATION:
Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.

Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with parsley (optional).

Serve immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate.

I usually find it at Walmart, but specialty stores or health food stores will probably have it too. You can also make your own from buying a can of chickpeas and looking up a recipe online.

Just about anywhere. If you can't find it, buy garbanzo beans or chickpeas, throw them in a blender with some vinegar, then taste it and see what else you want to add. Peppers? Scallions? Tomatoes? The possibilities are endless. Most people throw in some olive oil also. I find it tastes better without any oil. but in that case, you need more vinegar. I use Bragg's Organic Apple Cider vinegar - $4 / qt.

you can buy hummus in the deli off the deli section------ all hummus is chick peas, tahini, which is sesame puree,garlic,lemon juice, olive oil salt and pepper. they're different flavors of hummus at the store. PS puree all those ingredients i gave you . good luck.
