Can *refrigerated* butter go bad?!
Answers: I've had a couple sticks of butter for at least 6 months. I use 1 tablespoon at a time for occasional recipes.
absolutely not you should be safe, as long as your refrigerator has'nt had interupted service, say like from a power outage
Not bad but it can pick up off-flavors from other items in frig if it is not wrapped airtight. Onions and garlic worse offenders but anything strong smelling will transfer to unwrapped butter.
No, it'll be fine. What you might try in the future, is to cut off half of the stick, wrap it in foil, and freeze it. Keep the other half in your fridge.
Do you mean real butter? If so, I think you can freeze the sticks and use your tablespoon for recipes. Wrap the butter in extra paper so it won't get freezer burned.
But I don't think it will go bad refrigerated. Just make sure it is in a sealed container.
For the longest lasting butter you got to wrap it up well and freeze it.
nope.
butter dont go bad.
Refrigerated butter can go bad, but it will take a lot longer than if you had left it out on the counter. Six months is probably starting to push it. Next time you use the butter make sure it smells okay and doesn't appear to have any mold growing on it. Since you use butter so infrequently I would advise you only keep one stick in the fridge and place the rest in the freezer, they'll keep a lot longer in there. Also, make sure you wrap the stick in the fridge in its paper or foil wrapper, and if you know it'll be in there for a while, a plastic baggie too. Butter can pick up the odors and flavors of other things in your fridge, and while that doesn't mean the it's gone bad it tastes really awful. Hope this helps!
