How long can you keep a frozen turkey I have one that has been in the freezer since last Dec. 2006?!
Answers: Depends on how well it was wrapped. If it was wrapped well and no freezer burn got to it, it should be fine. Thaw it out either in the frig or under running cold water. For a large turkey I would go with a few days in the frig. If the outer skin does not look dried out and the meat looks ok it should be fine. Also the proper internal temperature for a turkey and all poultry is 165 degrees not 180 like stated above. 180 would start drying out the meat. As we say in the kitchen though, if you have any questions at all throw it away, its not worth the risk of getting sick from an old turkey.
oh good, i need the answer too. i have one about the same amount of time. haha. it was a good price. lol
it will be ok but dont keep it for much longer
The recomended time to keep it is one year
However, as with any meat and poultry product, the quality may be reduced with long-term storage.
eew!I would have thrown it away by now.
OK , I researched this. The American Dietetic Association recommends that frozen poultry be used within 9 months to 1 year frozen. Be safe check your temps. cook poultry to 180 degrees F
it will be fine if it has been covered well and not freezer burnt......enjoy
It will be fine! We had one from last Christmas, and just had it for Thanksgiving.
