How long is milk good for after it's expiration date?!

Question: I just came back from vacation and I noticed a new un-opened gallon of milk in the fridge. It just expired today.

It would be such a shame to waste all that milk. It still looks good and smell good.

I'm sure it will be fine. As it was unopened no bacteria got in and it was kept cool in the fridge the whole time. Go for it. I often drink milk a day or two past it's expiration date as long as it smells OK.

As long as it smells fine, it should be alright

If it smells ok its fine, they always put a date on it that's a bit early just to cover themselves in case it goes off early. Milk always smells when its off so if it doesn't smell its fine!

Your nose is a very good indicator of the freshness. That tint of sweetness is a sure sign that it is time to water the plants.

well i Guss 2 weeks and more because last time i had milk after 13 days of expiry date and it tasted fine and am still alive so you are safe to drink that milk

The expiration date, in the US, actually notes the last day you are legally aloud to purchase that item. after that date, legally the product should expire within one week. so add seven days to the expiration date and that is the last day you should drink it.

When it starts smelling sour or when it feels chalky when you drink it, then the milk is no longer good. Your instinct will tell you. To extend the life of the milk further(since it just expired) you could freeze the half (maybe several small containers) for cooking or baking and drink the other half. Freezing stops the deterioration process a lot better than refrigeration alone.

There is no exact science to it...however, it should be good for 3-5 days longer...you'll know when it's bad....

Drink it daily , and the day you get sick would accurately be (How long) Isn't science great!! No guesswork.

only do like three days after if it still taste good then who cares drink it. One more thing if it has chunks throw it away haha organic milk last longer by the way
