Why is a hamburger called a hamburger? A Hamburger comes from beef not pigs!?!

Question: Why not call it a beefburger? Who came up with that and why?

Answers: Why not call it a beefburger? Who came up with that and why?

Seriously, because the first hamburger was created in Hamburg, Germany. Just looked it up! I've often wondered the same thing...

Hamburger is named after someone- it has nothing to do with ham.

Hamburg, Germany...originated from there. Last time I checked.

i dont know but thats a good question look it up on google

A better name would be "Cowburger", but if animals are in the name people would likely find it repulsive. :o

I have no idea. in england its called a beef burger. at least it was when i left

well i have been to some places where they do call it beefburger. The reason is that it comes from a place called Hamburg which is German. So really it does not have anything to do with ham.

Man-Bear-Pig Burgers did not sell as well.

the method for making them came from Hamburg in Germany

yes its a place in germany

from city Hamburg not from ham

the word hamburger comes from someones last name i believe the man is from germany..im thinking this documentary was on the food channel .and they said that this sandwich got its name from a man over in germany....

cause their origin is in Hamburg, mein freund. there was some guy that got a receipe about hamburgers from a cook and he decided to name the hamburgers after the city Hamburg, cause the cook lived there.

It sounds better when it's called hamburger instead of beefburger.
