What do they do to the chocolate in the US to make it taste so bad?!

Question: Or should i be diplomatic and say 'different'.

Answers: Or should i be diplomatic and say 'different'.

They don't put as muck milk in it as manufacturers in the UK do. Most of the milk chocolate in the UK has as little as 20% cocoa solids. the other 80% of the ingredients are vegetable oil and milk. In fact, one of the directives from our friends in Europe was that we should no longer be allowed to call it chocolate and we should actually call it 'vegelate' as the main ingredient is vegetable oil.
It's still very nice though and most Americans and Europeans i know prefer 'english' milk chocolate to their own.

mostly they just use cheep chocolate.

i know german chocolate is so good way better than the us yummy they process every thing to death

we don't use Irish Whiskey, which seems to be what your addiction could be. What is wrong with the Chocolate? Be more descriptive please.

Those Hershey bars are disgusting! Mind you, British chocolate isn''t much better.

Personally I always eat Belgian or Swiss chocolate.

Hehe, agreed - everyone in the UK gets really excited about Hersheys until they actually try it!!!

It's the additives and the lesser quality chocolate that make a lousy product.

I have had gifts of chocolate from the U.S. and they seem to fill it with something that makes it taste waxy. I bet if the Americans had a wee go at our Dairy Milk bars, they would never want waxy chocolate again!!!

As a chocolate connoisseur, I have tried lots of different brands where I live in the US. I would, if availiable, not base an opinion on one type or brand of US chocolate. There are thousands of them out there.

I have to agree, their chocolate is funny tasting.

they use LESS choclate
they remove the chocolate fats
and replace them with milk or other fat solids

they let them sit on the shelf for MONTHS

in Belgium, it is expected that you eat the chocolate the day you buy it.

You are probably spoiled with truffles and European chocolates--lucky you. USA chocolates have cheaper stuff I guess. I adore French Truffles but I like Hershey Almonds, Nestle Crunch and Kitkat well enough.

I think US chocolate has more sugar in it.
Here in Germany, the chocolate I like has more cocoa-not all the sugar.

It′s so much better than in the US-and I have the hips to prove it:)
