Since Vegetarians don't eat meat, why are they always eating food that tries to taste like meat?!
Answers: like boca burgers or meatless meatballs or my favorite. fake baby back ribs. if they crave meat so much, why don't they eat real meat?
I think vegetarians recognize that meat, for whatever reason, is not the healthiest option for them personally even though meat might have a desirable consistency or taste.
I don't do a lot of faux meat preparation, even though I don't eat meat, but I do like to have protein (which these meat substitutes provide) and sometimes having the convenience of a fake burger or a fake meatball is nice.
LOL
I've asked that same question before and never got an answer.
because they think thats funny
WHAT A HOOT! I live in Eugene, Oregon, and there is just about any diet imaginable here. Lotsa vegans, lotsa vegetarians (I make it a point to not know the difference).
Great question. I sincerely laughed out loud.
Ewww fake baby back ribs.
A vegan friend of mine told me that the only way to really do it is not to be constantly finding replacements for meat, but to see it as a compeletly new way of eating and getting nuitrients from non-meat only. I hope that made sense.
Ditto.. I've sometimes wondered that too. My guess is this. Those who don't eat meat because they don't want animals harmed, don't eat the fake meat products. Those who choose not to eat meat for health reasons, eat the fake meats. My daughter use to be a strong activist for the protection of animals, and took part in related activities. Now, even though she still strongly believes in not harming animals, she's not critical of those who choose to eat meat, and now she's been a vegetarian for so long, her system is just used to not having real meat products, that she would be vegetarian regardless of her political views... she eats the fake stuff.
First, if they craved meat so bad they would revert back to a carnivore instead of wasting their time eating "mock" meats.
As more people become aware of the many benefits associated with a vegetarian diet, it couldn't hurt to have an increase in meatless meals at the local grocery store to help accomodate those wishing to eliminate meat from their diets.
Many companies and stores cater to the vegetarian community and we have those decision makers to thank for helping us to keep in line with our beliefs by providing these types of items that we are looking for.
