Don't you HATE IT when people STEAL YOUR FOOD????!!!?!

Question: My unemployed lazy roommate steals any food that I leave in our shared kitchen. Thank God my best friend gave me his little refrigerator so I can put food under lock and key in my room. My roommate takes anything! I just discovered that he ate all but crumbs of my oatmeal and whey protein powder. He leaves a tiny bit in there so I won't think it's gone. Like I am dumb and don't know that a $30 container of Whey protein powder that I barely touched is gone. What a thief! When I accuse him he lies and he is the only other one in the house!!!!!!!!!! Has this happened to you???

Anyone mention how a little laxative may be a deterrent, using discretion of course.

yes, i was eating my milanos when this girl just takes when and is like can i have one and of course she alreaeaady touvh it

no, but what you should do is put a hidden camera in your house and when he does it again show him.

wow hes weird becuase i sure as hell would never eat that unappealing stuff
yuck

This has never happened to me and this maybe a little unrealistic, however, I think a list should be made of the food that he has eaten and bill him for it.

A lot, put your name on your stuff, or have seperate spaces in the fridge. Start telling him he will have to pay more on bills to even the score if he continues doing this!

That sucks... to bad you can't evict him or get out of your lease leaving to pay the full rent. He sounds like a little brother or sister. lol.

Good thing you can lock your room.

I'd advise keeping your toothpaste and toothbrush locked in your room too.

had the same problm with a room mate years back. I solved the problem by getting my own fridge, getting some stuff and letting it get 'almost bad', then put it in the common fridge. when my room mate was kind enough to warn me that my food was going bad, I told him if he wasn't stealing he wouldn't know what condition it was in, also made sure there were witnesses around so he would be really embarrassed

No I haven't had that problem and have firm rules about what is mine.

My suggestion would be to get into his stuff, the expensive things.

yea when i was a freshman in college, i lived in a huge rooming house.
i shared the bathroom and the kitchen with 8 ppl.
it was horrible right from the beginning.

for instance, i buy fresh oranges and frozen pizzas and put them in a fridge.
they are gone the next day.
i buy a box of orange juice and i put it in a fridge and it's still unpacked.
it's half empty the next morning. ( of course i thew it away)

i really could not stand it any more after 5 months so i moved to a tiny studio apartment.
theives are everywhere and you really should not share a fridge with others unless you really trust them.
