Help my chilli is too hot is there any way to save it?!
Answers: my kids are never gonna eat it like it is!
That's too bad - I occasionally screw up my family's dinner by overspicing too. I bought a garam masala from an indian shop that turned out to be hotter than most curries... Putting cream or yoghurt in as some have suggested will only moderate the chilli, not get rid of it entirely. You could serve the dish with a yoghurt based drink like savoury lassi, very refreshing and washes away the capsicum oils... but if you have kids you might have to do what I have had to do several times - quickly whip up an alternative dish, like some bolognaise sauce to go with the rice. Then they can try a bit of the hot chilli as well and you can see how high their chilli tolerance is...
Usually you put something milky in it, maybe a big dollop of sour cream or something would help just before it is served
Add some more sauce to it anad it will calm the heat down that is what I had to do the other night for my kids when I made it
Natural Yogurt! I always use this with hot curries, and I have used it with chilli before as well. Don't mix it in unless you want to! You can use it like you would use tomato sauce, on the side of your plate
yogout or sour cream will do the trick,
Send it my way my husband loves it HOT! Or find a chili contest and enter it. You might try adding some sugar but honestly I think that just makes it hotter. It is better to add the heat a little at a time. You can make more and just add beans and meat and no spice and use what you have to spice the other up with and then you can freeze it for another few meals. Or offer what you have left over to your church or a shelter for use as ameal tonight.
more tomatoes, juice, sauce, paste, whatever you've got.
maybe more ground beef..
be sure and not add anymore salt...that will bring out the hot more too!
If it gets too thin, just thicken some of the liquid seperately with cornstarch and water and add it back in.
Blessings
When you over salt a dish, cooking a potato in it draws the salt out. I wonder if it would do the same for your chili. You could also make a second batch of chili without spices and mix the two. Or you could try adding extra beans.
put a whole load of plain yoghurt in it. thats wat my mum does an its reall yummy!
Yoghurt on top when you serve or mix in some sour cream, adding a little sugar can also help, sounds weird but cooking is a big passion for me.
put natural yogouut in it
Stir in some natural yoghurt - it takes the heat outta curries & spicy stuff!
Get some more mince and cook it, add it to the chilli and you will have a milder chilli and you can freeze the other half you don`t use
