My 17oldmos twinboys are not gaining weight. what are the right food for them including snacks?!
At that age apparently many children have a decrease in appetite. Too busy doing other things! But they won't let themselves starve if the food is available to them.
Just try to stick with the healthy stuff, don't start offering sweets and junk food simply to make them eat. They will eat when they're hungry!
Some snacks/foods to try:
-celery with peanut butter and raisins, or celery with cheeze wiz or cream cheese
-crackers with peanut butter or with cheese
-toast with jam, peanut butter, honey, cheese, whatever they like on it.
-fresh cut-up veggies with some ranch or other dressing to dip in.
-fresh fruit cut up with yogurt to dip in.
mini-pizzas made on english luffins or pita bread - they can add toppings of their choice, offer a variety of veggies in different colours to encourage them to eat more!!
-at 17 months it is still recommended to feed them baby cereals because they are fortified with all the vitamins, iron, etc that they need. If they don't like to eat the cereal you can make muffins and replace part of the flour with dry cereal mix.
-mashed up banana mixed with yogurt makes a great dessert!
-apple sauce - buy the "au naturel" kind with no added sugar or preservatives, you can even get it in different flavours like apple-peach or apple-berry without the sugar now.
PS: If your doctor has expressed concern for their weight, he should have also made reccommendations to you as to their diet. Ultimately, the children's doctor will tell you what is best, and if, in fact, they really aren't gaining enough weight.
Answers: Kids will normally eat the foods they need. Keep on offering them healthy choices: fresh fruits & veggies, whole grains, cheese, peanut butter, lean meats & poultry.

to funny, my kids wouldn't eat anything that luvmy3 posted.
The question is do your twins need to gain weight?
My twins (now 8) had various stages of weight gain/loss for about first 3 years of life.
I wouldn't be concerned unless your pediatrician is telling you that they need to be gaining weight.
Hopefully someone got to you early with the sleeping twins advice: when one wakes for feeding, wake the other one at same time. That way they are always on same cycle and mom/dad get to actually sleep. Nobody gave us that little tidbit of information until mine were almost a year old.
Did the doctor say this? there are low and high scales for weight and height in kids and yours might just be on the low end right now. They may not be there next month. If the doctor is concerned he will give you the right diet for their needs, he sees your boys, he knows their health and you should always go with doctor's recommendations.
