Why do our mouths salivate when we get hungry or are eating something that tastes good??!
Answers: ...this happened to me whilst eating my lunch today which tasted great and it got me thinking....
Digestion begins in your mouth, not in your stomach, intestines, or anywhere else.
When you're eating, your brain sends signals to your salivary glands, telling them to squirt some lubrication into your mouth. Without saliva, you'd have a REALLY difficult time swallowing.
Even prior to eating---like, if you walk past a bakery or pizza place and smell the wonderful smells---your brain believes that food is on the way, and tells your mouth to get "warmed up". Our brains are actually more primitive than we like to admit!
if u want to get technical about it. it actually begins in your brain. the brain sends a signal that you're thinking about eating so you produce more saliva to break down food. simple as that.
