How to pick the best fruit at the store?!

Question: What is the best way to choose good mango and pineapples at the grocery stores? What should I look for? I have no idea and I never seem to get them right.

Pineapples
I generally look for one that is more yellow than green. I look at the bottom where it was cut from the stalk to make sure there's no mold. It should look clean. Also, you can give it a sniff the bottom to see if it has a nice aroma. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.

If you plan to eat the pineapple that day, you can do the leaf test. Tug on a leaf and if it comes out, it's ready to eat. If not, just let it ripen a couple days at home.

Mangos.
Again another fruit where I look for more color than green. It should be slightly firm, but not hard as a rock. I, also, do a sniff test on it too.

They are ready to eat when they are slightly soft.

other than the obvious checking for soft spots/bruisesUSE YOUR NOSE fresh sweet smelling fruit is what you what to look for remember-smells bad=tastes bad-no smell= no taste

To be ripe, mangoes should be not green all over, and not too firm to the touch. Pineapples should smell tropical, and not be too discoloured.
Hope that helps :)
