I recently thawed a wild pacific salmon that I bought pre frozen 7 months ago. How can I tell if its safe??!

Question: It has some yellow coloring, which I am not sure if it had before and doesn't smell too fresh. It also has some obvious freezer burn.

Salmon is a fatty fish, and it is not recommended that you keep fish in a 3-star rated freezer for more than 3 months, as the fat can turn rancid. It probably won't harm you, only the smell and taste will be "off".

If it's freezer burned and has changed colors I dout it's good..on this one you should use common since..:)

if it smells fishy then its no good. Its funny but fish is not supposed to smell fishy....the fresher the fish the less it smells.

I would toss it out. What a shame, I hate when I do this but it happens. Don't take a chance, food poisoning sucks!

No problem if you cook it well.
