A hectic lifestyle is a major hurdle when you're trying to eat right.
Nuts are an excellent source of vitamins and protein and for sustained energy. They do have a higher fat content but overall they are very good for you. Peanuts or peanut butter, almonds, cashews, etc. Get the lightly salted kind. I also stock up on high protein foods like tuna fish, chicken, turkey coldcuts, yogurt, protein bars, etc. These foods are high protein and great for energy and most of all, easy to grab on the run OR prepare the night before. As for veggies and fruits, I won't tell you to eat one over the other, but use good judgment. For example, really sweet fruits like pineapple, peaches, cherries are okay once in awhile but the high sugar content won't really "hold you over" til your next meal. I do recommend salads over fruit, but both are good for you. Last thing to add-keep caffeine consumption minumal, a cup a day at most. It can dehydrate you which makes you feel hungry sooner and the energy boost wears off quick, which leaves you sluggish.

Bananas are one of the best energy sources around. They also contain a lot of potassium.

peanut butter is a very good source of protien, and will give you engery. or snack on nuts for a healthy snack. good luck
