Answers: i live in las vegas

i live in Pennsylvania and they still make it with MEAT here, i don't know where the first answerer is from but he is WRONG! i have no clue where to find it in Vegas but all i have to do is go to the butcher at my local farmers market and they sell the real stuff the butchers Grandma makes it! (brandy and all). we just buy about 3 pounds of that and fill up a pie crust and throw a crust on top. OMG is it yummy! i cant wait for Thanksgiving! :)

They haven't been made with meat for centuries. Only the name, mincemeat, stays. You could make your own by adding meat to the mince pie filling you can buy in supermarkets, if you want.

Mincemeat is just a name now. There actually used to be a mix of dried fruit, some meat, and other spices in the pie, but no longer. I went to Wal-Mart the other day- and saw a jar of mincemeat filling (no meat) along with pre-made pie crusts, so they would be easy to make yourself. I attached a link the an article about Mincemeat pies. However- I am sure you if you look- you can find an "old-school" recipe.

The meatless ones are supposed to be called "mince pie" so if it's called "minceMEAT pie" it should contain meat. But, I haven't seen one with meat in years. Just the "mince pies" around here.
