What's that bag of stuff (not the neck) inside the turkey that you buy at the grocery store?!


Question: Do people eat that? If you're supposed to take it out and throw it away, why do they put the bag of stuff in there? Someone out there must use it in a recipe... right? What is it?! Lol

The bag is a giblet bag. Many people cook the giblets and then chop it up and mix it in with the stuffing. It is usually the heart, liver and gizzard. If you don't want these things, I usually place them in a Ziploc bag so they don't smell and throw them away.

its the liver and gizzards. alot of people use them in their stuffing, I boil mine and give it to the cats but use the water to moisten my stuffing

Mashed liver could also be added to stews and pot roasts in the last 15 minutes of cooking time, to thicken and flavor the gravy.
