Are kinder surprise eggs just getting worse?!

Question: i remember when i was like 5, they were my favourite sweets, everyone i knew loved them, and they always had a fun toy inside which kept me happy for at least an hour (i was 5 okay?). but now, the capsules are hardly worth opening, they all seem to be some sort of crappy movie tie-in or some plastic lump or something.
i don't think it's just that i'm a cynical, disillusioned teenager, i really think that something changed for the worse.

i used to love them as a kid too
i just would think twice about buying them for kids because of the small parts, better to stay safe.
