If you swallow red pepper without chewing?!


Question: I dared a friend to eat a red pepper freshly picked from our garden. He broke the peice in half and just swallowed it without chewing it. Won't your stomach be burning when it digest and is that bad if you don't chew red pepper before you eat it?

Our stomach acid is very strong, so it'll simply dissolve it. However, because it was a large piece he might get pretty bad indigestion from the increase in stomach acid. Otherwise, unless he does this with all his food, it's not a big deal.

Depends on the person. But I don't think it matters if you chew it up or not.

It is but since it was only one it shouldnt be that bad...A friend of mine used to something similar for years and got a hole in her stomach but like I said you dont realy have to worry because it was just a little...Get him some saltine crackers to help if his stomach hurts and he'll be just fine

No it is not hot pepper. It could give you indigestion though.
