Does it amaze you that we have to fight to get additives out of food. The food sold in our shops could be bad!

Question: for us. Do you agree, that it is sort of ridiculous that stores are allowed to sell the rubbish in the first place. I just find it puzzling that food producers would put all the E.s and
additives and not be taken to court by us all. Or am I too stupid to see the obvious? What about the so called "Value" food, who are they aimed at, poor people I know, but this food could make them ill. Wonder what makes it "Value" its a contradiction in terms isn't it?

I agree with most of what you say but the argument is, that you, (we) are under no obligation to buy processed food. Even if you, (we) do buy processed food, the additives are accumulative i.e. the additives in one can of beans won't kill you but if you live out of tins (even value!) then it is your own fault.
Food could be a risky business these days and, to a paranoid person, there is more than just additives to worry about because while these additives have to be listed on the packaging, with fresh fruit and veg you have to worry about insecticides and chemical fertilisers which is usually on the skin which, generally, is the source of highest concentrations of vitimins etc.
Then there is meat we are not told about steroid injections in the animals and growth hormones especially in non-eec meat, although eec meat is bad enough aanad we have all heard of the scare stories surrounding poultry and game, so ironically, perhaps those value brands are safer than the expensive foods which we take for granted as being safe just because they are expensive! best of luck in your future food shopping. LOL

It does amaze me that this government doesn't do enough to protect us. Not only that but not enough testing is done to check what pesticides are used. But then this Labour Government is AGAINST looking after our farming and fishing industries. The "Collective European Union" must come first. They have been ruining our farming communities for years. Many farms go out of business each year.

I believe the goverment needs to check our food better. At school my teacher told us that only 1 percent of the food is checked that comes from china. So i think that we need to check our food before we eat it. P.S you are very knowledable about this subject.
