It's amazing the 'opinions' you get here!
There are at least two kinds of crepes: sweet and savory.
The sweet ones are 'pastryesque' for desert.
The savory ones can contain meat, cheese & hot sauce and are definitely NOT pastries.
So I suppose both of you win!

.

Yes, they are. They are a Euopean style pancake. However, they can be filled with both dessert and non-dessert type items. For example, crepes florintine are filled with spinach and mushrooms. Strawberry blintz are crepes filled with a strawberry filling.

yes.

they are like pancakes or elephant ears

my feeling is that pastries are baked , i would say no crepes are not a pastry.

Yes and no.

Crepes can be sweet or savory. They are thin pancakes made from eggs, milk and flour. it's where you go from there determines if they are a pastry or not. I would say that if you fill them with fruit and ice cream or whipped cream, then yes, they are a pastry. But if you fill them with something savory, such as chicken with mushroom sauce, then they are not.

If they are or they aren't they sure are good!!!

No its more like scrambled egg in a round sheet.
