Why is Chef Batali leaving Iron Chef?!
On September 5, 2007, the New York Post reported that Batali's contract with the Food Network would not be renewed, and that he would no longer be featured on its Iron Chef America series. The article further reported that Batali had decided not to make any further appearances on Iron Chef America because the network had cancelled his show, Molto Mario, which had been airing on Food Network since 1997. A Food Network spokesperson confirmed to ABC News that Molto Mario, would no longer be aired, but said that "Mario Batali is still part of the Food Network family."
Answers: Because they cancelled Molto Mario:

They cancelled Malto Mario? Good grief! What are they doing, making room for MORE Rachel Ray shows? Oh well, he's too good to waste his time there, anyway.
That explains the guy who won last night....and why the had the show to begin with. Oh well, Mario is great but he does make complex dishes for the everyday cook.
Lets just hope that put some quality on in his place - I'm burnt out on "sammies".
While I'm not exactly sad to see Mario go, I certainly hope there isn't more Rachel Ray. I'd love to see more like Alton Brown.
Please ... more food science. We have plenty of shows already on food style.
He sucks!
