Did u know that when cheese breaks down in ur system it forms opiates?!

Question: ivillage.com is the source

Answers: ivillage.com is the source

Cheese contains a protein that breaks up during digestion to form opiates. All dairy products have these proteins but cheese has more than others because it looses much of it's liquid in processing. The opiates, called casomorphins, have only a tiny portion of the pain-killing potency of morphine. However, like other opiate painkillers, the casomorphins slow intestinal movements and can cause constipation.

Some scientists believe these opiates may be one reason dairy products, especially cheese, are so addicting.

Yo hit me up with that **** son. THis must be betta then the mad chrinic I smoke.

No, I didn,t. Did you know that in China they don,t even eat cheese? Someone from Hong Kong told me this!

No, I really don't think that is true. Consider this: if that was true, wouldn't those "opiates" show up on a drug test? Because I have given up many clean piss tests after eating cheese. But I did pop a dirty after eating an "everything but the kitchen sink bagel" at my local deli, because it had poppy seeds on it. So the drug tests are pretty sensitive.

Sorry, I am not buying this factoid.

That statement is a little misleading. When you eat cheese, or chocolate, or something you find pleasurable, your body reacts by releasing dopamine. Opiates also affect dopamine release, but on a much grander scale.
