What does it mean when it says that there are five live and active cultures in your fruit yogurt? what are cul!
Answers: I know it is a good thing, but they never really explain why they are good.
Cultures are the bacteria that allow yogurt or buttermilk to become slightly tart and hold together the way they do. Five active cultures means there are five distinct cultures in the yogurt.
What cultures do is boost the bacteria in your stomach for digestive and immune purposes. When we ate more natural foods - non-heat pasteurized we had no need for these as the came to us naturally. Since we do not eat many raw veggies or dairy anymore then the cultures work with us.
Right after getting off of an antibiotic for example is the best time to assist your immune system by eating plenty of yogurt, blue cheese, kefir and other active cultures. This will replace the bacteria the antibiotic killed off as they do not distinguish between good bacteria and bad bacteria.
The bacteria are beneficial to your digestive tract. They help with digestion and immunity.
Cultures are good bacteria. These are the good ones that live in your digestive tract that help you digest the food that you eat. They also help kill the bad bacteria that enters your body. Yogurt with live cultures help make sure that you have enough of the good stuff in your system. This is especially important if you have been on antibiotics - which kill the good bacteria along with the bad because the meds can't tell the difference.
It reallly isnt any good because by the time it has gone through the process of going through the acid in your stomach there is no goodness left!
Cultures are live bacteria which are beneficial to your gatrointestinal health. They are involved with the digestive process. It is very important to have yogurt after you complete
treatment with antibiotics, because the antibiotics destroy the intestinal flora.
