Why does Wendy's require 2 interviews?!

Question: Fast-food restaurants are notorious for turn-over amongst staff. Wendy's requires two interviews to test the seriousness of the candidate. They pride themselves on better customer service and making people feel like they accomplished something to get the job helps in retention.

I used to do this as well when I managed restaurants and found that I got kids that were interested in working not just looking for the first offer that came along. I also rejected more than 80% of applicants on the first interview as I felt they would not be serious about service. My stores won almost every contest and award that our company had for ten years.
